Did you know a brand new baseball straight out of the box is called a “PEARL” due to it being bright white and slightly shiny?
Pictured here is a huge basket full of pearls that we used for batting practice in Spring Training this year in Sarasota, Florida. Although they look nice in the basket, it sure took Jon Snyder, John Bryk (fellow Cincinnati Reds Equipment Managers) and myself a while to unwrap them all out of the plastic bags that they come in!!
