Big thanks to my buddy, and blog follower, Mike for sending me these pictures and description of a recent trip with his wife.
“In the middle of nowhere within a couple of miles of Research Triangle Park, NC is the USA Baseball National Training complex.
They have 4 practice fields and then this Game field.
I have to say, great place to see a ballgame.  This was the USA Baseball collegiate National Team playing Team Canada – we had to leave around 9 since i had to get back to the office before getting home, but it really felt like baseball embodies, it wasn’t a giant complex, there were plenty of grass areas for fans to spread out blankets/etc on, and no beer – just people there enjoying a game of baseball. “

“The one constant through all the years has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. Its been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt, and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game, is a part of our past. It reminds us of all that once was good, and what could be again.”
