In addition to the Dayton Dragons taking on the Fort Wayne Tin Caps today, there will be some additional entertainment at Fifth Third Field. The ZOOperstars! are invading to provide tons of laughs and fun for the crowd on hand, and for the players.
“They are real cool,” Dragons outfielder Andrew Means said. “They are very entertaining and seem to always put on a good show.”
According to their website, the ZOOperstars! are described as a “crazy combination of animalistic superstars, and the fastest growing entertainment act in the country.” To describe this act for you, they are a series of “blow-up” costumes of unique design and character names, using a play of words for famous celebrities or sports figures. They entertain all in attendance during inning breaks at hundreds of minor league baseball games throughout the summer. They dance, tumble, bounce, shake and do all sorts of crazy things to get fans excited and yelling.
Dragons outfielder Anthony Brown said, “They are something to enjoy during the game. It takes the edge off of a possible bad or stressful game.”
Upon talking to a few crew members from the ZOOperstars! team I learned that have performed for over 30 million fans in countries all over the country like Italy, Puerto Rico, Canada, Mexico, Taiwan, and Japan. They have also appeared on many national TV stations and even appeared in a national Nike ad.
I feel very fortunate, as most of the Dragons fans will agree, that the ZOOperstars! are back for another terrific show.
“They are very fun to watch,” Dragons starting pitcher Josh Ravin said.
