Losing Streak Continues
Posted on 22. Nov, 2009 by Corey in All.
The 1974-75 Washington Capitals and the 1992-93 San Jose Sharks both started their NHL seasons losing 18 games in a row. The 1988 Baltimore Orioles lost 21 straight baseball games to begin the Major League Baseball season and the 1988-89 Miami Heat dropped 17 straight NBA games to start the year. So the Chiefs co-ed hockey team that I recently joined has quite a few more to drop before reaching those historic marks.
The Chiefs dropped to 0-4 with me as a team member after getting crushed by Team Fire 10-0 the other night. I was informed by another team member that has been there all season long that the Chiefs had not won a game, is around 0-10 on the season.
With friends and family in the stands, I have to say it was a quite embarrassing game. In our defense, the other team practices together and also has a few players that are way above our league, but I am never one to make excuses.
In the second period I took a slap shot off my chest, which actually felt awesome. I was proud of myself since I side stepped one the week before. Again, I struggle to learn how to play the puck and not the man, since we cannot check, but I feel myself getting better each time out.
I felt a step slow the entire night and just could never get the jets moving. My dad blames my stupidity of running three miles earlier that day as the reason I had “no legs under me,” but no one said I was the smartest.
I would like to thank my dad for taking some pictures of me on the ice so I could share with you, since a few people actually asked. Not sure why people are that interested, but here you go.

Pre-Game Stretching

Showing off my fine stick handling

Talking Strategy

At least I look good

Love playing center...didn't win as many faceoffs during this game though

Another Faceoff

Trying to put myself in good offensive position in front of Fire net and wait for the centering pass

Eager to get on the ice

Not sure what is going on here, but it still gets physical even though you can't check

Sliding to block a slap shot from the point...luckily it missed me or it would of hurt!

Another responsibility of playing center is to help out in front of our own net...I do like pushing their players around and get them out of there

im glad to see you picked a good number
any reasoning behind picking #7?
The guy that organizes the team only had two extra jersey’s, a blank one, and a number 7…I was very happy with 7 since I wore that a few years in high school…I think it is a good hockey number…Next step is getting my name put on the back like the rest of the team!
is it true that you won’t let anyone see you play?
All are welcome to come see me play…Saturday night, December 5th, Sportsplus, Canada Rink 10:45 PM…Should be wearing #7 in blue pants…just don’t expect much!!!
[...] Not really sure why, but some of my blog readers have emailed nand asked for me to give a Chiefs update. For those of you that are not familiar, the Chiefs are the co-ed hockey team that I recently joined this season. If you missed the article and pictures on the team from a few weeks ago, you can click HERE. [...]
