Country Roads Take Me Home…

country-roads-1Almost heaven, West Virginia,
Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River.
Life is old there, older than the trees,
Younger than the mountains, growin’ like a breeze.
Country Roads, take me home,
To the place I belong:
West Virginia, mountain momma,
Take me home, country roads.

All my mem’ries, gather ’round her, country-roads-2
Miner’s lady, stranger to blue water.
Dark and dusty, painted on the sky,
Misty taste of moonshine, teardrop in my eye.

Country Roads, take me home,
To the place I belong:
West Virginia, mountain momma,
Take me home, country roads.

I hear her voice, in the mornin’ hours she calls me,
The radio reminds me of my home far away.
And drivin’ down the road,
I get a feelin’ that I should have been home yesterday,
Yesterday.

Country Roads, take me home,
To the place I belong:
West Virginia, mountain momma,
Take me home, country roads.

Take me home, country roads.
Take me home, down country roads.

I am headed off to Morgantown, West Virginia for a few days to hang out with Coach Huggins and see the Mountaineers play in the Coliseum.  Very happy with WVU is playing the Ole Miss Rebels, so I will be able to see Coach Kennedy also, who I spent a bunch of years with at Cincinnati.  Please check back for coverage of the game, and Morgantown.  Happy Holidays to everyone.

    Corey,

Are you from WV, or just visiting? Just curious. I lived the first 27 years of my life in WV before moving up to Oxford, OH.

“I dont care if Im Cy Young or if Im the 25th man on the roster. If Ive got that ball in my hand and m out there on that mound, thats not your mound. If you want to run across the mound, go run laps in the bullpen...If my grandmother ran across the mound, shed hear the same thing he heard. Period.”
