Ole Miss Rebels- West Virginia Mountaineers

On paper it was a good match-up between the undefeated six ranked West Virginia Mountaineers and the once beaten fifteenth ranked Mississippi Rebels.  Two powerhouses from big named conferences hooking up for a pre-Christmas showdown on National Television.  The other story line was mentor Bob Huggins facing student, and his former assistant and good friend Andy Kennedy for the second straight season.  For me, it was a chance to visit and catch up with two great friends, and oh yeah, see a basketball game also.
If there could have been a way to tie in Division 1 College Basketball, I would have been rooting for that.  I never want to see one of these guys suffer a loss, but that was bound to happen to someone.  To me, the game was the aftermath, I was more enjoyed hanging out with Huggs and AK during the day, and was more pleased to see how both of them were doing.
When the ball was tipped, I stood court side at the West Virginia Coliseum and observed a pretty good basketball game.  The Mountaineers rebounding and second half three point shooting proved much for the Rebels, as WVU won the game 76-66.

The game proved to be a good test for both clubs as they prepare to open up conference play and continue the journey to the NCAA Tournament in March.  I snapped a few pictures that I would love to share with you now.  A special thanks to my buddy Joe for doing the driving to Morgantown and showing me a good time around.

Per the suggestion of Coach Huggins, WVU removed all the seats in the student section and replaced them with bleachers, forcing the students to stand up during the entire game, creating a much better atmosphere.  The administration tells me that the students also are “more into the game” while standing.  There is some overflow student seating, with real seats, upstairs in the second deck.
