Cactus League Underway

Yesterday was the first official game of the 2010 spring training for the Cincinnati Reds.  Playing at Goodyear Ballpark, the Reds took on their spring neighbors the Cleveland Indians.  Besides sharing the state of Ohio, and I-71, the Reds and Indians also share a spring training stadium (Goodyear Ballpark) and have their workout complexes next door to one another on South Wood Boulevard.
For Major League Baseball Teams that train in Arizona, their spring season is called the Cactus League, compared to the teams that train in Florida and play in the Grapefruit League.  The Reds and Indians will again do battle today at Goodyear Park in their second game of the season.  The Indians won the season opener yesterday 9-2.
To celebrate the beginning of a new era in Reds baseball, the club had many guests in town.  As you can see pictured, the complex was neatly decorated with balloons.  Also, each fan that attended the game received a commemorative mini flag to celebrate the day.
Although I have been working for a week, I still experience a new part of the facility each day.  I look forward to bringing you pictures and updates throughout the spring.   Also as a reminder, please check out my twitter feed located on the right of the home page and follow me at coreybrinn.
