Dragons RP Chase Ware get engaged on-field

On Tuesday night Dayton Dragon relief pitcher Chase Ware closed out the last few innings to earn a save in the game, and help break an eight game home losing streak for the team. And on Wednesday night, Ware picked up a win, but not the kind that will ever show up in a boxscore.

In the middle of the fifth inning, Ware had his then girlfriend Mariah come onto the field for an entertainment skit. She was blindfolded and had no idea what was going on.  When she removed her mask and turned around, Ware waited on one knee, asking for her hand in marriage.  She said  yes, as the large sold-out crowd cheered as they walked off the field.

Please check out the video below and feel free to click on the comment section that Ware and his new finance will read.

Thank you so much for recording this! I recorded it on my camera, but I was so shaky and was a few rows back. I think you may be the one who made a CD for us. Thank you so much! I enjoyed my stay at Dayton this past week. Fifth Third Field is truly a magical place. Everyone should go to a Dayton Dragon game and experience the excitement! The Dayton Dragons organization is a first-class organization. I enjoyed meeting so many wonderful people affiliated with it. Thanks again Corey. Tina Ware (Chase’s mom)

“I dont care if Im Cy Young or if Im the 25th man on the roster. If Ive got that ball in my hand and m out there on that mound, thats not your mound. If you want to run across the mound, go run laps in the bullpen...If my grandmother ran across the mound, shed hear the same thing he heard. Period.”
